It is not uncommon for applicants to invent employers they never had and positions they never held – in fact, 11% of job applicants misrepresent why they left a previous employer. It is very important to check past employers to confirm work history and verify employment.
DBS’s employment verifications and references checks are conducted by our experienced interviewers who know how to get the facts required for you to make your employment decisions.
Employment verifications involve a direct inquiry with the current/former employer (or designated employment record custodian) disclosed by the applicant, to validate claims of employment, dates of association, position held, general comments, circumstances of departure and eligibility for rehire.

Address Verification

Applicants who are trying to hide their criminal past from potential employers often look for ways to mask their true identity, providing employers with fake addresses to prevent them from uncovering the information. Checking a candidate’s address history is helpful in verifying their identity.

Education Verification

Today it is very easy to obtain a false University Degree certificate or a Professional Accreditation certificate to bolster up a resume that may not have “the right stuff”. Employers leave themselves open to legal liability if these are not checked and verified.

Reference Checks

Reference checks provide the employer with comments from the applicant’s supervisors, past working associates, past employers and neighbors. These interviews give the employer a very good idea of how the applicant was viewed by past associates.
